Have you ever wanted to see, up close and personal, the belongings of the rich and famous?
The Metreon in San Francisco, Calif., a technology and entertainment marketplace, is hosting a Hollywood memorabilia exhibition. The collection, which is on loan from collector Barry Barsamian, includes gowns, costumes, jewelry and accessories from Hollywood celebrities including Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn. Some of the highlights at Metreon’s Hollywood memorabilia collection include a dress Judy Garland donned as Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz,” one of Barbara Eden’s costumes from “I Dream of Jeannie” and Lucille Ball’s wig from “Yours, Mine & Ours.” Barsamian considers Judy Garland’s dress to be one of his prized possessions in collection.
Also on display at the Metreon is Barsamian’s extensive collection of TV Guides, which he began collecting as a child back in 1972, thus starting his passion for collecting Hollywoodmemorabilia. While he purchased some of the items in the collection at auctions, other items he collected through his friendships. Barry Barsamian’s celebrity friends include Tippi Hedren, Patty Duke, Jane Russell and Shirley Temple Black. The exhibit will be on display at the Metreon through the end of May.
